WHAT IS BULLYING

Bullying is aggressive behavior that is intentional and involves an imbalance of power and strength.  Someone who is being bullied has a hard time defending himself or herself.  Usually, bullying is repeated.  Bullying can take many forms, such as hitting or punching (physical bullying); teasing or name-calling (verbal bullying); intimidation using gestures or social exclusion (nonverbal bullying or emotional bullying); and sending insulting messages by phone or computer e-mail (cyberbullying).

Anti-Bullying

Wow, when I chose anti-bulling as my platform I didn't realize that it was going to be so prevalent in the news.  It seems like every time I turn on the news I'm seeing another story about someone committing suicide as a result of being bullied.

When I chose this platform it was because I was bullied and I know how bad it makes a person feel.  I want to make a difference, I want people to understand that when they are cruel to others there are consequences and sometimes fatal consequences.  Maybe when I make appearances and teach younger children what bullying is and that it's NOT ok, that will be a good beginning.

Anti-Bullying

I am so excited about my anti-bullying platform.  I have been researching the web, making some calls and am in the preliminary stages of getting information together.  I have a lot of research to do, but I don't mind.  This is such an important message to get out.  I want to target elementary children with my message so I can help educate from an early age.  I am learning that bullying is so much more than what the average person may think.

What Is Bullying?


- Punching, shoving, and other acts that hurt people
   physically
- Spreading bad rumors about people
- Keeping certain people out of a "group"
- Teasing people in a mean way
- Getting certain people to "gang up" on others

Texas Honor Ride Appearance

I had the honor of appearing at the Texas Honor Ride fundraiser, it was a wonderful experience .  I met several wounded soldiers,  they are so brave and humble.  I am finding it difficult to put into words the impact this fundraiser had on me.  Seeing the warriors up close and personal and having time to get to know them and their story reminded me of the sacrifices that our men and women make every day to make our country safe.  I would like to thank Texas Honor Ride for giving me this opportunity.

Texas Honor Ride - Appearance

I am so excited, tomorrow I have an appearance at a fundraiser for The Texas Honor Ride (THR).  THR is an organization created to raise money to honor, directly help and improve the quality of life of wounded warriors and their families who are recovering at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in
San Antonio, Texas.  If you would like to donate to this incredible cause check out their website at www.texashonorride.org.  The fundraiser will be at the West Conroe Baptist Church 1855 Longmire Rd. Conroe, Texas from 8 AM until 2:30 PM.  I hope to see you there.
